IMPM and ANOR Take Their Cooperation to the Next Level

On February 26, 2026, the Institute of Medical Research and Medicinal Plants Studies (IMPM) and the Agency for Standards and Quality (ANOR) met to review the progress of their collaboration and chart new directions for the protection of Cameroonian consumers.

This meeting is part of the ongoing effort to strengthen the strategic partnership that has linked both institutions since the signing of a cooperation agreement in 2023.

During the working session, the Director General of IMPM, Prof. Jean Louis ESSAME OYONO, emphasized the importance of this cooperation. “The world has become a global village. Now more than ever, exchanges are structured, and we have a duty, as institutions of the same country, to share our knowledge and technologies.”

For her part, Ms. Chantal ANDELY, Director General of ANOR, commended IMPM’s significant contribution to carrying out analyses related to agri-food, cosmetic, and other products subject to certification procedures. She also highlighted the professionalism of the Institute’s technical teams, particularly their compliance with result transmission deadlines. “Despite numerous commitments, IMPM has consistently ensured the timely delivery of analysis results, demonstrating a strong sense of public service.”

The discussions provided an opportunity to take stock of the achievements of this cooperation and to identify new prospects for optimizing their shared missions in the areas of standardization, certification, and quality control, including:

  • Strengthening the laboratory management system;
  • Expanding sample drop-off points across Cameroon’s ten regions;
  • Jointly relaunching awareness campaigns against the use of potassium bromate in bakeries.

On this last point, Ms. Chantal ANDELY stressed the need for optimal protection of the population. “We must work together for greater public health protection and to guarantee consumers products that comply with applicable standards,” she declared.

This working session thus marks a new milestone in the IMPM-ANOR partnership, in the service of economic development and public health in Cameroon.
